Security

The security of your premises and the safety of your staff are our greatest concern. You’ll be reassured to hear that all staff working at your school will have been rigorously checked against current Right To Work criteria as set out by UK Border Agency. When recruiting staff, we look for honesty, reliability and excellent customer service and go to great lengths to ensure that references are true and accurate. We only pass a cleaner once we know that all their references are genuine.

We then carry out enhanced DBS checks on all employees and provide training for all staff in both safeguarding and the identification of young people at risk under the Government’s PREVENT strategy.

Training

At Vervia we try and recruit experienced cleaning staff, but irrespective of previous experience, no member of staff can be placed on our payroll unless they completed Vervia’s company induction training, including local Health and Safety familiarisation.

Training in specific skills is delivered as required for the tasks to be undertaken and follows Risk Assessment/Method Statements issued for each task by the British Institute for Cleaning Science (BICSc) of which Vervia is a Corporate Member.

If we appoint an on-site supervisor for your contract, we will provide training for that person in the fundamentals of supervision and performance against management.

Once we have calculated the hours needed to clean your school, we will make sure that staff complete the full shift allocated to them. At each school we use our Time and Attendance system, Webroster, to record hours worked.

We are experienced at working with TUPE regulations and consult fully with all staff transferring to Vervia.

If a member of staff is unable to attend at short notice, we will deploy a vehicle-based mobile cleaning operative who has been DBS- checked. This may result in a slight delay as they are not always close by. For this reason, we ask Business Managers to allow us to become key holders at their schools. We maintain keyholder insurance for such purposes.

At least once per month we will also carry out a quality inspection at your site and will share the results with you at our review meetings.
